Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Gratitude Pal ("we," "us," "our") governing your use of Gratitude Pal (the "App" or "Service") on the web and on iOS/Android.

1. Acceptance

By creating an account, or by accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. You must be at least 13 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction.

2. The Service

Gratitude Pal is a gratitude-journaling app with a creature companion (your "Pal"). You can write gratitude entries, maintain streaks, raise and customize your Pal, and optionally purchase virtual items and a subscription. We may add, change, or remove features at any time.

3. Accounts

• An email-based account is optional but is required to sync across devices.
• You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity under your account.
• You must provide accurate information and notify us of any unauthorized use.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• break the law or infringe others' rights through the Service;
• attempt to access other users' data, bypass Row-Level Security or authentication, or probe/scan our infrastructure;
• reverse engineer, scrape, or overload the Service, or interfere with its operation;
• exploit bugs to obtain Stardust, cosmetics, or entitlements you did not pay for;
• upload unlawful, abusive, or malicious content.

Your journal content is yours; you grant us only the limited license needed to store, process, and display it back to you so the Service works.

5. Purchases and subscriptions

• Stardust is an in-app virtual currency. It has no cash value, is not redeemable for money, and is non-transferable. We may adjust pricing, availability, or balances as needed to operate the Service.
• Pal Pass is an auto-renewing subscription (monthly or annual). Unless cancelled, it renews automatically at the end of each period and your payment method is charged the then-current price. You can cancel anytime; cancellation stops future renewals but does not retroactively refund the current period.
• Where you buy matters for billing:

- Web purchases are processed by Stripe.

- Mobile purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play (in-app purchase).

• Refunds are handled by the platform you purchased through — the App Store, Google Play, or Stripe — subject to their policies. Manage or cancel mobile subscriptions in your Apple/Google account settings.
• Virtual items and Stardust may be forfeited if your account is terminated for a violation of these Terms.

6. Disclaimers ("as is")

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will never be lost. Gratitude Pal is a wellness/journaling product and is not medical, psychological, or professional advice.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Gratitude Pal and its providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or lost data. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of USD 100 or the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.

8. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time and delete your account in Settings → "Delete account…", which permanently removes your account, journal, and Pals. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service or other users. Sections that by their nature should survive (e.g., purchases already made, disclaimers, limitation of liability) survive termination.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of {{GOVERNING_LAW_JURISDICTION}} (for example, the State of Delaware, USA), without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be resolved in the courts located in {{GOVERNING_LAW_VENUE}}, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new "Effective date" and, for material changes, provide reasonable notice. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
